The Empowered Pause™

A welcoming community for women to talk openly, learn, connect and feel supported through perimenopause, menopause, postmenopause and the wider midlife transition.

Based in Tiverton, The Empowered Pause™ brings women together through monthly meetings and carefully created retreats.

Why I created The Empowered Pause™

The Empowered Pause™ was created by Amantha King to provide the kind of local space many women say they need: somewhere welcoming, informed and human, where menopause and midlife can be  discussed without embarrassment or judgement. Kerri Elliott co-facilitates the monthly sessions at Liznojan Bookshop in Tiverton.

Too many women reach this stage of life feeling underprepared, isolated or unsure where to begin. Our aim is to help women gain knowledge, build connections and grow in confidence.

The Empowered Pause™ provides community and education. It does not replace individual medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or therapy.

Our community

The Empowered Pause™ is an established and growing local community. We have held 13 community meetings, with approximately 25 women attending each meeting on average, alongside open local sessions and retreats.

Every gathering is shaped around the same purpose: helping women feel more informed, less alone and more confident as they navigate menopause and midlife.

Who is it for?

The Empowered Pause™ welcomes women who are:

  • experiencing perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause
  • preparing for this stage of life and wanting greater understanding
  • feeling isolated, overwhelmed or unsure where to begin
  • looking for a welcoming local community
  • interested in midlife wellbeing, identity, confidence and personal development

You do not need to live in Tiverton. You are welcome to come on your own, and there is no pressure to speak or share anything personal.

Events

Monthly meetings

Our monthly meetings are relaxed, welcoming and informative. Some women come with a friend; many arrive on their own.

Each meeting explores a menopause or midlife theme and may include an informed conversation, a guest contribution, time for questions and an opportunity to connect with other women. You can participate in the way that feels right for you—listening is participation too.

The Empowered Pause™ retreats

Our retreats give women more time and space to pause, reconnect and focus on themselves away from the demands of everyday life.

Each retreat is created around a clear theme and may bring together reflection, expert-led sessions, movement, rest, creativity and connection. Retreats are designed to feel welcoming whether you attend with someone you know or come alone.
